Rev. Chris Bourdeau
Executive Pastor
Chris is home grown. He came to Stony as a senior in high school in 1996. In that first year, Chris decided to follow Jesus, was baptized, met his future wife, Leah, and began leading Bible studies in the youth ministry. After becoming a member in 1999, Chris served as interim youth director—kicking off a long list of roles in which he would serve. He has played and even led our praise band, served as business director, and as programming director. Then, in 2005 Chris was licensed to the Gospel ministry and hired as assistant pastor over youth and programming. Since then Chris’ role at Stony has continued to grow, leading to his current position as Executive Pastor— overseeing the pastoral staff, business around the office, outreach, and large projects—such as our recent building renovations.
Chris earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies from Rochester University in 2008, his Masters of Religious Education from Liberty University in 2010, and his Masters of Divinity in Christian Leadership—also from Liberty University—in 2015. He was licensed to the Gospel ministry in 2005 and ordained at Stony Creek Church through the Great Lakes Association of the North American Baptist Conference in 2009.
Chris and his wife, Leah, were married at Stony in 2003, and have two sons. Xander was born in 2009 and Ben in 2011. Chris and Leah enjoy having friends over at their home and traveling the globe any chance they get. In ministry, Chris’ passion is to involve, envision, and equip his church family to help people come to Christ, connect with Christian living, commit to church, and go on to coach other Christians.
